Peggy Newlan
Peggy, the leading lady and corporate knowledge of ooh la la Salon & Spa, moved to Florida in 1978 from Rochester, New York. Her life in hair styling began at the age of 11 as she practiced her skills doing beehives and french twists for her mother. Over the years, she has built on her hair knowledge by completing countless cuts and colors for friends and family. After the first career in accounting and banking, Peggy decided to throw herself whole-heartedly into hair care and design. She joined Ooh la la over 11 years ago and, in 2003, took her dedication to the hair business to a higher level when she purchased ooh la la Salon. From a family perspective, Peggy has four children and she balances her motherly and business qualities in expert fasion, often seen moving through the day in warp eight. With Peggy, you always know where you stand.
Ami McKinney
Ami came to Cape Coral in 2004 from Carosel Beauty College in Huber Heights, Ohio, where she was awarded a managing cosmetic license. In addition to working as an educator for Scruples, giving in-salon clinics and working hair shows, for a period of thirteen years, Ami was also a salon owner for five years. Ami came to Ooh la la Salon in 2006 and in her words, "loves every minute of it, from our great group of girls, to doing great hair."
Carol Ann Sheehan
Carol was born in Newport, Rhode Istland, and has lived in Cape Coral since March 1997. She spent her growing-up life as a US Navy brat and eventually settled in Concord, Massachusetts and graduated from high school in Concord, in 1976. Carol's hair styling career began with the whole-hearted supoprt of her mother and she graduated from Robert and Richard Beauty Academy, Waltham, Massachusetts, in 1977. Since that time, she has worked in several hair salons in Massachusetts and Florida. Carol joined the ooh la la Salon team in 2004. Carol's professional and diligent work at ooh la la Salon originates from her personal belief that "everybody should love their work as much as I do".
Dominique Snyder
Dominique, or Nique, is a homegrown Cape Coral girl. A proud Red Knighter, she graduated from North Fort Myers High School, the Class of 2003. Following high school, Nique attended Florida Gulf Coast University from 2003 to 2005, switching her major subjects between Psychology and Elementary Education. However, having not found her niche in FGCU and on the welcomed advice of her mother, Nique entered into the world of cosmetology and attended High Tech Center Central, Fort Myers, graduating in 2006. Armed with her new-found skills in cosmetology and a background knowledge in psychology and child education, Nique became and important addition to the ooh la la Salon Team in May of 2008. In Nique's words, "I never saw myself in the beauty business, but I'm loving it". She admits that she has never been happier and more content working in the ooh la la Salon.
Jennifer Maillakais
Fifteen years ago Jennifer traded in her cubicle in corporate America for a pair of shears and a color wheel. Jennifer has spent thirteen of her fifteen years as a hairdresser working at Ooh La La. Jennifer prides herself in specializing in various color lines. Jennifer believes in listening to her clients, they are her inspiration. “I am so fortunate to be able to do something I truly love; the people in my chair are not just clients to me, they are my family”.
Joyce Britt
Sassy yet classic; married entrepreneur who has been in and out of the beauty business for 30+ years, as both a stylist and an owner. Joyce likes shopping, fashion, Karate, boating, and the beach. Originally from the Upper East Side, and has lived in Florida for approximately 13 years. Joyce also has a Real Estate Broker’s License, and is commissioned with the state of Florida as a Notary. Joyce’s contribution to Ooh La La Salon and Spa is to enhance the appearance of your smile with professional teeth whitening. Joyce looks forward to serving you with your teeth whitening needs.
Nydia Castro
Nydia is Ooh La La’s massage therapist and skin care expert. She graduated top of her class from the Florida Academy of Massage and Skin Care in 2003. After her schooling, Nydia immediately went to work holding positions in medical spas and day spas. To add to her experience, and expertise, Nydia is a skin care educator for the Florida Academy of Massage and Skin Care. A member of the Ooh La La team since 2008, Nydia strives to provide her clients with the best service and attention. Her passion for the trade is obvious, and she feels “privileged and satisfied” when she is able to have client feel like a “million”.
Robyn Ledford
Robyn was born in the Garden State of New Jersey and settled in Florida in 1984. Working as a hair stylist was Robyn’s dream from an early age. After a successful career in banking, Robyn was presented, and quickly grasped, the opportunity to train in cosmetology at the Sunstate Academy in Fort Myers. While at Sunstate Robyn excelled, and graduated with honors. Robyn continued her lifelong dream by becoming a member of the Ooh La La team in August of 2010, she feels “blessed” to work, and be inspired by, with such a professional group. On a daily basis, Robyn’s work at the shop displays her belief, “Never give up on your dreams”
Sharon
Sharon entered the world in Newport, Rhode Island, concentrating her growing up in the Ocean State. Warmer climates beckoned and she relocated to Cape Coral in 2000. Sharon joined the staff of Ooh la la Salon as the receptionist in 2005. At ooh la la Salon she is a vital team member working efficiently and tirelessly to ensure the success of the salon.
